Since farming is the County's largest, soil-disturbance activity, the District stresses the importance of conservation planning, promotes the use of Best Management Practices (BMP's) and cost-effective solutions such as intensive rotational grazing, and emphasizes the fact that technical assistance is available to farmers through the Conservation District and its conservation partners. The District assists local efforts to improve farm management practices by supporting conservation programs such as Project Grass, the Chesapeake Bay Program, and Act 6, the Nutrient Management Program.
